| I started off with two ~8:20 minutes miles and quickly jumped into a quick pace of 7:11-7:40. I was going for it. All put on the line for Boston and a PR. However, I was only strong enough to hold such fast pace for 17 miles. I crashed and hit the wall shortly after 18 or 19 miles and was extremely disappointed for not getting the 3:15 to qualify. However, I did accomplish something. I never have been able to hold this qualifying pace longer than 12 miles. So this was a huge accomplishment. I also have another state under my belt. So back to the drawing board and hopefully some of you may have a few tips for me. My legs typically get very tired starting at 18 miles. I witness this in all my races. I wanted to start on the weights as I've read that this provides strength and the endurance that's needed well after 20 miles. Any suggestions would be of great help to me. I'm taking a couple of weeks off, then will start training in November for a winter race in February. I'm putting it on the line again for Boston 2008... Another thing is that I run well in the cold temperatures and it got up to 73 during the race on this past Sunday. | Comments(4) |

| This was day one after completing the Detroit Marathon on Sunday. All miles were performed on the treadmill and my legs felt pretty good. I did a few crunches and stretching as a cool down. I feel fresh enough to do a 7 miler tomorrow at a moderate pace. | Add Comment |
